Dr. Jason Baker is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He believes in putting his patients first and treating everyone like his family.
Dr. Baker is a co-owner and surgeon at Kansas City Surgical Arts. Dr. Baker joined Dr. Hlavacek in 2018. He practices comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgery with special interests in dentoalveolar and implant surgery, bone grafting, anesthesia, facial trauma reconstruction, and the medical management of temporomandibular joint disorders.
Dr. Baker was born and raised in rural central Missouri where he spent his youth helping his family raise beef cattle, corn, and soybeans. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in biology, graduating summa cum laude in 2009. Following this, he attended dental school at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, graduating cum laude in 2013.
Following dental school, Dr. Baker then completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery and a general surgery internship both here at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Here, he had rotations at Truman Medical Center, St. Luke’s Hospital, and the UMKC School of Dentistry.

We were so impressed by Dr.Baker and his staff. I had a small complication prior to surgery , and Dr.Baker himself called me back and helped me. Then when I arrived for my surgery, my driver developed medical issues, and they took care of him as well! They were all so kind and caring, never rushed. Then Dr. Baker called back in the afternoon to check on both of us! I would give the very highest recommendation to anyone I know needing oral surgery.
Dr.Baker was amazing! I was having issues on the day of surgery and gave him a call up around 10pm not knowing if he was going to answer, but he did and helped me tremendously with getting the prescription I needed right away. We had a little trouble finding a pharmacy so he did some research after our call and gave us a call back about 30 minutes later. He even gave me a check up call in the morning to make sure I was still doing alright. He saved me so trouble by answering his phone that night, can’t say thank you enough.
Dr. Baker was excellent! He took a lot of time to thoroughly explain the procedure I was having, the healing process, and possible future procedures - using my X-rays and 3-D images to help me visualize everything we discussed. He was very reassuring and personal. His staff was wonderful, too! I will definitely go back, and I give this practice my whole-hearted endorsement.

Dr. Baker maintains his empathy, kindness, and compassion, while providing his patients with the highest expertise and knowledge. I went in for wisdom teeth removal, and while there he ensured I was comfortable and outlined each step of the procedure in detail. He encouraged me to ask any questions so that I felt comfortable about my care. When it came time for the procedure, his staff was friendly, efficient, and caring while prepping me. Each person knew exactly what to do and everyone genuinely seemed to enjoy working with one another. Their genuine comfortability helped ease any nerves I had left and I drifted to sleep knowing I was well taken care of. The procedure was very smooth with no complications, and Dr. Baker did an excellent job. I was on my way home within 30-45 min. of when I came in. After the procedure, Dr. Baker went out of his way to call and check on me that evening. His dedication to his patients and his skill makes him one of the best surgeons around. I would recommend Dr. Baker and KC Surgical arts to anybody needing an oral procedure done. They are the best.
